Donate to the Alumni Board Fund (via PayPal)
Managed by our Alumni Board, these funds allow us to address our program’s strategic goals (such as performance) and to meet its greatest needs (such as coaching and recruiting).
Donations are tax-deductible, as the Alumni Association has been granted IRS tax-exempt status as a non-profit 501(c)(3) entity called The Rugby Alumni Association of UGA, INC..

Donate to the UGA Endowed Fund
Via a partnership with the University of Georgia, an Endowed Fund has been set up to benefit our program. UGA manages this fund and owns the principal, using a portion of the earned interest to fund a stipend to the club in perpetuity, in the form of reimbursement for certain university-approved expenses.

Donate Your Time, Talents, & More
In addition to financial support, we welcome other types of assistance! We could always use people to help with various efforts, including but not limited to coaching, public relations, recruiting, event planning, technology, and fundraising. We strive to think “outside of the box” when it comes to leveraging our network of supporters, so please email us if you’re interested in volunteering, have items to donate to an auction, or can offer any other support to the club.

Here’s a high-level breakdown of the 2 options:
The Alumni Board fund is 100% owned and controlled by the Alumni Board, and can be used as they deem necessary to support the needs of the club. Current board priorities include coaching, recruiting, and improving player experience and alumni engagement. If you agree with the board’s strategy, and trust the board to execute and to be good stewards of these funds, donating to the alumni fund makes the most immediate impact. Also, with full visibility into the donations, the board can provide complete transparency, reporting, and recognition of our donors.
The Endowed Fund is 100% owned and controlled by the University of Georgia. UGA Rugby gets access to a percentage of the earned interest each year, but this is restricted to reimbursement for certain university-approved expenses. The exact amount fluctuates based on market yields, but the available money has historically been around 3-4% of the principal amount each year. Donating to the Endowed Fund therefore provides a smaller and more restricted benefits; but as they are guaranteed FOREVER, they will benefit all future-generations of UGA ruggers. Lastly, UGA keeps donor information private, so reporting is limited to an annual report of overall fund status. The alumni board has zero visibility into any individual donation details, so we’re unable to recognize those donors.
Ultimately, both options benefit UGA Rugby, and both options are tax-deductible, so there’s no bad choice. Which you prefer is up to you – some alumni give to BOTH. If you have further questions about this, feel free to reach out.
Donations made to the Alumni Board Funds are tax-deductible, and our Treasurer will automatically email all donors their tax receipts on an annual basis, targeting January/February of each year to account for tax deadlines. If you have any questions about this, simply email us.
As the UGA Endowed Fund is managed by the University, questions around tax receipts for donations to that fund should be directed to UGA.
