Originally a swimmer, Dorian hails from Nassau, The Bahamas where he broke over 100 age group records. Dorian swam in the Pan Am games in Havana, Cuba in 1991 before becoming an All American in the 50 free and breaking a Florida state record in 1992 at the Bolles School in Jacksonville Florida. He was a letterman his Freshman year on the swim team at Georgia in 1993, but transitioned to UGA Rugby in January of 1994. He was a winger that year and moved to centre for his Junior and Senior years. He was the President of the Club his senior year and made the USA All-South Team. Roach was made a UGA Rugby Lifetime member in 2010, nominated by his friend and rugby mentor Jay Smith.
After returning home to The Bahamas, Roach continued his rugby career at the international level, representing the Bahamas National Team in both 15s and 7s. He competed at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the first Commonwealth Games to feature rugby sevens. Roach scored four tries during the tournament—two against Tonga and one each against Western Samoa and the Cayman Islands—leading The Bahamas in tries scored.
Among the highlights of those Games was taking the field against New Zealand and the All Blacks Sevens, including legendary All Black Jonah Lomu, one of the most iconic players in the history of international rugby. For Roach, who had only taken up rugby four years earlier at the University of Georgia, lining up against Lomu and New Zealand on the Commonwealth Games stage represented a remarkable progression in the sport.
Roach went on to enjoy a lengthy international career with The Bahamas, competing in numerous Caribbean Championships and Rugby World Cup qualifying competitions in both 15s and 7s.
His contribution to Bahamian rugby eventually expanded from playing to coaching and administration. Roach began coaching the Bahamas Women’s National Sevens Team before going on to coach the Men’s National Sevens Team for five years. In 2015, he coached The Bahamas during the Olympic qualifying campaign for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, as rugby sevens prepared to make its Olympic debut.
He earned World Rugby Level 2 Sevens coaching certification and became a Level 1 match official. He also served for four years as Vice Chairman of the Bahamas Rugby Football Union.
Dorian continued to play rugby until 2017. In 2014, he began competing in triathlons, and at age 41, Roach represented The Bahamas at the 2016 ITU Age-Group World Championships in Cozumel, Mexico. He started the Bahamas Triathlon Association and served as its President from 2015 to 2025. Amongst the many triathlons, Dorian competed in the Kona Half Ironman Championships in 2022. He is also a certified Level 1 World Triathlon Coach and coached many Bahamas National Triathlon Teams, including the 2018 Commonwealth Games in The Gold Coast, Australia.
Dorian was also elected Vice President of The Bahamas Olympic Association in 2020 and was acting President of the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games. He is currently the Treasurer of The Bahamas Olympic Committee after being elected in 2024.
Dorian was a member of the 2022 graduating class of the International Coaching Enrichment Certificate Program (ICECP) in partnership with Olympic Solidarity, US Olympic and Paralympic Committee and the University of Delaware.
