UGA 55 Western Carolina 7

The game was played under nice conditions. It was a sloppy game, as they tend to be this time of year. We dominated the set pieces, winning most of WCU's scrums and lineouts, and that set the tone for the game. We had most of the possession but weren't fit enough or well drilled enough to do a lot with it. WCU put in some hard hits and strong runs, but in the end weren't organized enough to do much with them. They scored a nice try on a strong run from 20 meters out in the 36th minute for their only score.

Our man of the match was Michael Thompson who was easily our most active forward and was probably involved in twice as many plays as any other forward.

Old White 107 UGA B 0

Referee: Rob Sherman

We played 4, 20 minute periods. Old White was able to dominate set piece possession to the point where we effectively never had the ball in the first 60 minutes. Some of our new guys played extremely well against long odds. In the 4th period we went to uncontested scrums and we were able to have some possession, at one point touching down for an apparent try, but that was called back for a knock on. Old White moved the ball extremely well and were strong in the ruck, so the few times we did get possession we were generally unable to hold on to it for more than a phase or two.

Man of the match was Ryan Selensky who, from his fullback spot, made several tackles on players who outweighed him by, well, an awful lot, and was never reluctant to go in hard to make a tackle or attempt a poach.

I don't doubt there are a billion errors, feel free to let me know.
