Referee: Wofford

The game started quickly for us as Sean Catlett scored a long try off of a grubber in the 4th minute. In the 10th Harrison DeJarnett made a short penalty for a 10-0 lead. In the 15th Wake Forest hit a drop goal from about 25 meters. We responded by another penalty at the 21st to make it 13-3. In the 28th minute Wake missed a drop goal but we did not pursue at all and they caught the kick for a try. 3 minutes later we were in good attacking position but got sloppy in the centers, Wake took advantage of it to go 70 meters to take a 17-13 lead. In the 35th minute they scored again on a nice backs try off of a lineout. Halftime was 22-13 Wake Forest.

They came out just as strong for the second half as they finished the first, scoring tries in the 48th and 53rd minutes to take a 32-13 lead. We came back 1 minute later off a Wake mishandle to make it 32-20, but 3 minutes later they forced a turnover and took it 40 meters for the try to make it 39-20. Daniel Purvis scored in the 62nd minute after a long run by Sam Pennel but Wake finished the scoring with 2 more tries to make the final 49-25.

We did not do a good job of playing smart rugby and Wake Forest was talented enough to turn most of those mistakes into points (and very quickly, at that). We kicked away far too much posession on aimless kicks and didn't support close enough when we did keep the ball in hand. All in all Wake Forest was a very impressive team and we learned some hard lessons today.

UGA 22 Wake Forest 12

We played a lot of different guys (again) in the B-game, which is a great sign. Wake scored first in the 18th minute on an unconverted try off a turnover deep in our own end. In the 22nd Tony made a penalty kick. In the 27th minute James Roberson scored a 50 meter try to make it 10-3. 7 minutes later Jason scored a try off a nice setup by Nico. In the 41st minute Nico finished off a beautiful movement when Clayton had a break, offloaded to Andre, who took it 30 meters then hit Nico for the finish to make it 22-5. Wake finished the scoring with a try off a 5 meter scrum in the 74th minute to make the final 22-12.

Considering the extreme youth our guys did extremely well and several of them made a strong case for A-side consideration.
