Furman brought down a side missing several of their A-side starters and played a very strong match. They started strong as their captain, Will Brantley, successfully answered the game opening brain teaser in lieu of a coin toss (if you're interested, see below). They did well after the kickoff, too... With a strong wind at their back they scored 3 first half tries and converted 2 of them for a 19-0 lead. Georgia had some chances to score, at one point knocking on into the try zone, but couldn't. Halftime was 19-0.

UGA did better in the second half with the wind, mainly staying in Furman's end as Furman chose not to try to kick out but ran from inside their 22 on many occasions. UGA scored 4 tries, converted 1, to win by a 22-19 score.

Both teams played solid, controlled rugby. I was expecting to scrum all day long due to the wind, but there were very few handling errors as both teams played smart rugby. We played our most controlled game of the season, maintaining possession through many phases and then taking advantage when space opened up.

Furman defeats UGA

The second game was 2 15 minute halves as Furman was short on players. I've managed to lose the score sheet somewhere in the depths of my intricate filing system (the truck), but Furman won the game. Two of their tries came after very long passages of play, probably more than 10 phases.

I don't doubt there are a billion errors, feel free to let me know.
