Blind Pigs 30 UGA 14
Sandy Creek Park
Athens, Georgia
Saturday April 9, 2005, 2:00 pm
Referee: Jamie Bohanon / Doug Porter
The old boys dominated the first 20 minute period, going on top 22-0. After that the alumni lack of fitness was a factor and the young boys started to play smarter rugby, the second period was 7-3 young boys with the alumni points coming on a drop goal by Ray, probably because he was too tired to run anymore. The second half was 7-5 young boys for a 30-14 final.
UGA 22 Oconee County High School 0
The second game of the day was a motley side of UGA and alumni against Oconee County High School. Oconee was playing only their third game ever and played extremely well. They competed successfully in every phase of the game and could easily have been winning at the half. UGA scored an unconverted try and Oconee had 2 chances at penalty kicks but were unable to convert.
In the second half UGA was patient and played to their pattern, putting in 3 tries through the backs for a 22-0 final.
Overall it was a very impressive performance by Oconee County and we look for great things from them in the future.
I don't doubt there are a billion errors, feel free to let me know.
