the Pictures from the day's games
(thanks to Lindsay for taking the pictures)
Our old boys started the day off with a game against Southern's old boys. Our guys were a bit, well, casual about showing up so we started late and used a hodgepodge of players. It was a tight game that Southern won with a late try, 21-19.

You know we're short on game pictures when we show Rhythm... |
The A-side started back and forth. We missed a penalty from the right side in the 3rd minute. In the 20th minute we got on the board when Nicholas threw a long miss pass to Marc Thomas at wing who took it in for the try, centering the ball for the easy conversion.
Southern came back a few minutes later when their outside center took it 80 meters for the try. Tom and Matt blocked the conversion so we still led 7-5.
Southern missed a penalty kick in the 30th minute, made a penalty kick a minute later, and scored another try just before the half when their outside center again broke a long run, breaking several tackles on the way for a 15-7 halftime lead.
8 minutes into the second half their #13 broke yet another long try, about 75 meters but they missed the kick so the score was 20-7. About 7 minutes later, after some sustained pressure, we grubbered into the try zone where Kellen fell on the ball. Nicholas converted to make it 20-14.
5 minutes later Nicholas took the ball from the scrum and again skipped all the way to the wing. Tom broke a tackle and scored, again centering the ball. Nicholas converted to take a 21-20 lead. But Southern came back, quick tapping a penalty and their scrum half took it around the right side for a try. They missed the kick so they led 25-21.
We had several nice opportunities after that for breaks but couldn't finish any of them and Southern won 25-21. Overall I thought we did a lot of things well and things look good for the rest of the season.
Man of the match was rookie Matt Combs, playing his first match.

UGA 17 Georgia Southern 10
Referee: Nigel Platt
Our B-side had 6 guys in their first ever match at UGA and they acquitted themselves very well.
In the 5th minute Brian Lake scored a try off of a quick tap penalty from Shep through Andre. Shep missed the conversion. In the 25th minute we scored off of another quick tap penalty, Shep took it in and John Binford converted for a 12-0 lead at the half.
Southern came back in the second half scoring a try after a couple penalties in the 10th minute. They missed the kick. They scored again in the 20th minute on a nice maul from a lineout. They missed this kick as well so we led 12-10. We scored another try when Antoine scored on a strong run from 10 meters out. We missed the kick to make the final score 17-10.
Overall I was very pleased with how we played. We had some nice sustained possession and some good individual runs.
Co-men of the match were John Binford and Ryan, both playing their first matches.
